The Dermatology Teachers Exchange Group (DTEG) invites dermatology faculty, residents, fellows, students to submit abstracts for the 2026 APD Annual Meeting. The APD meeting will take place October 9 & 10, 2026 at The Omni Hotel, Fort Worth, Texas. DTEG session will be Friday, October 9th from 4:30 – 6:00 pm.

For those new to APD and/or new to learning about the Dermatology Teachers Exchange Group (DTEG), the DTEG is an annual gathering of dermatology educators interested in sharing and discussing data-driven abstracts in the field of dermatology education. Abstracts are judged by a panel of volunteer APD educators and scored based on a rubric that includes:

  • Data driven nature of the abstract
  • Topic appropriate for a dermatology teachers exchange
  • Interest to the general community of dermatology teachers
  • Abstract is novel, not repeating recent abstract presentations (recent abstract presentations can be found on APD site )
  • Special Theme incorporating. Note incorporating the special theme is not required, but does add a slight ‘bonus’ to the overall score.
Each abstract will be issued a score and ranked. Volunteer reviewers do not rank their own abstracts nor abstracts from their program/institution. The number of abstracts selected vary based on the time allotted for the session. The DTEG abstract selection process is competitive, with around 30% selected for presentation.

Presentations are SHORT, typically around 5-7 minutes depending on the number of selected abstracts. Group discussion also occurs throughout the sessions.

The typical section headings of DTEG discussions are divided based on the themes of submitted abstracts. These can vary from year to year but typically divide into the following broad areas:
  • Medical Student Education
  • Dermatology Resident Selection
  • Dermatology Resident Education
  • Miscellaneous Dermatology Education topics (Faculty development, curriculum development, premed student/pipeline education, dermatology CME, etc.)
SPECIAL THEME:
This year’s special theme score bonus will be given to abstracts which address the topic of "Going Viral: Dermatology Education in the Social Media Era.”

We are seeking abstracts that explore how social media has influenced the dermatology application process, medical student and resident education and resident wellness.

Please note that all submissions are to be education-related abstracts. This is not a forum for presenting clinical research topics, even if the clinical research occurred in academic dermatology settings. Please spare us the review burden. This is not a venue for that type of work.
